The FME promotes different activities to foster technology transfer and collaboration between universities and enterprises, through educational cooperation and through research. Particularly, the research groups in mathematics and statistics at the UPC have a long tradition in cooperating with the enterprise world.

Main CONDITIONS of the educational cooperation agreements

Who can sign an agreement?

The educational cooperation agreements are exclusively targeted to FME enrolled students

Duration of the agreements

An educational cooperation agreement can be signed for a complete academic year (from September 16th until September 15th next year). The FME encourages the student to preferently sign two agreements during the academic year:

    • 1 period: autumn term
    • 2 period: spring term
Schedule and hour limits

The placement timetable needs to be combined with the lectures' timetable. Furthermore, 20 hours/week cannot be exceeded, with the next exceptions:

    • Non-lecture terms (summer).
    • Exceptional cases which must be individually evaluated.
Minimum remuneration

All placements must be paid. The students of Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics must be paid 9€/hour and for the students of master, 9,5€/hour.

A tax withholding must be applied to the study grant received by the intern as Personal Income Tax (IRPF), in accordance with current tax and labor regulations. consult the Agència Tributària website for more information.

Companies have the obligation to include in the social security system the students with whom they have formalized an agreement.

As a management fee, the UPC directly invoices the entity 15.70% of the total amount of the grant or study aid paid to the student. The applicable VAT at the time of invoicing is added to this amount.

End of Agreement
  • The educational cooperation agreement loses its validity when the student graduates and is no more linked with the UPC, even if the agreement's ending date is afterwards.

The educational cooperation agreements can be cancelled before the ending date communicating it to the  and through the "diligencia de baja" form.
